Coronavirus India: Despite record-high testing in India, the positivity here has remained low, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated on Tuesday. In the last 24 hours, 8.97 lakh covid-19 tests have been conducted, which is a new record. On Monday, the overall testing since the beginning of the pandemic crossed 3 crore –mark in India.

Despite high testing, the positivity rate was 8.81%  compared to the weekly national average, 8.84%.

“A new peak of 8.97 lakh #COVID19 tests done in the last 24 hours. Even with such a high level of testing, the positivity has remained low, 8.81% compared to the weekly national average, 8.84%”, said the Ministry of Health.

Aggressive Testing leads to early identification and isolation of Covid-19 positive cases.  This coupled with efficient clinical treatment brings the Fatality Rate down, the ministry said.


30 states/UTs performed better than the national average

The health ministry has stated that focused implementation of Centre-led strategies has ensured prompt identification, timely isolation and effective clinical treatment, leading to reduced Case Fatality Rate.

30 States/UTs performed better than the national average, it said.
