New Delhi: India on Friday reported 4,194 fresh COVID-19 cases, 6,208 recoveries, and 255 deaths in the last 24 hours.


The new coronavirus infections took the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,29,84,261, while the active cases dipped to 42,219.

According to the Union Health Ministry data, the death toll climbed to 5,15,714 with 255 fresh fatalities.


The active cases comprise 0.10 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate is at 98.70 per cent.


The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.52 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded as 0.55 per cent.


The number of people who have recuperated from COVID-19 increased to 4,24,26,328.


The cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive exceeded 179.72 crores.


Coronavirus Cases In Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi


Kerala on Thursday recorded 1,426 fresh COVID-19 cases, raising the total caseload to 65,17,950 in the state.


According to a government release, the southern state also reported 227 deaths which raised the toll to 66,689.


Of the deaths, 2 were reported in the last 24 hours, 22 were those which occurred in the last few days but were not recorded due to late receipt of documents, and 203 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court, the release stated.


With 2,055 more people recovering from the infection, the total recoveries in the state reached 64,39,421 and the active cases dropped to 11,022.


Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Thursday recorded 452 fresh coronavirus positive cases and four fatalities, the health department said.

With the addition in cases, the state's infection tally rose to 78,70,309 and toll to 1,43,749.

On Wednesday, the state had reported 359 cases and zero fatality.


The count of active cases in the state stood at 2,963, the department said, adding that 494 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recovered patients to 77,19,594.


Maharashtra's recovery rate is 98.09 per cent.


On the other hand, Delhi on Thursday reported 212 fresh COVID-19 cases and zero death, while the positivity rate stood at 0.56 per cent.


With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,62,467, while the death toll stood at 26,140.


Delhi had on Wednesday recorded 208 cases with a positivity rate of 0.46 per cent, and one death.


Recently, the city had recorded zero fatality count on March 5 and March 6.


The number of daily cases in Delhi has been on the decline after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13.


The city had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 per cent on January 14, the highest during the ongoing wave of the pandemic.
