New Delhi: The daily surge in Coronavirus cases in India dropped below the 10,000-mark on Monday as the nation reported 8,013 fresh COVID-19 cases.


Meanwhile, there were 16,765 recoveries and 119 deaths logged in the last 24 hours.

The new Coronavirus infections, took the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,29,24,130, while the active cases dipped to 1,02,601.


According to the Union Health Ministry data, the death toll climbed to 5,13,843 with 119 fresh fatalities.


The daily COVID-19 cases have remained below one lakh for 22 consecutive days.


The active cases comprise 0.24 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate is at 98.56 per cent.

The daily positivity rate was recorded as 1.11 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded as 1.17 per cent.


The number of people who have recuperated from COVID-19 increased to 4,23,07,686.


The cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive exceeded 177.50 crores.






Coronavirus Cases In Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi


Kerala on Sunday recorded 2,524 fresh COVID-19 cases which took the total caseload to 64,97,204 in the state.


The southern state also logged 62 deaths which raised the overall death toll to 65,223.


Of the deaths, 3 were reported in the last 24 hours, 13 were those which occurred in the last few days but were not recorded due to late receipt of documents and 46 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on the new guidelines of the Centre and the directions of the Supreme Court, the state government's release informed.


With 5,499 more people recovering from the virus since Saturday, the total recoveries in the state reached 64,01,236 and the active cases dropped to 29,943.


On the other hand, Maharashtra on Sunday reported 782 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 78,65,298 while two deaths, in Navi Mumbai and Solapur, pushed the toll to 1,43,697.

So far, 77,10,376 people have been discharged after recovery, including 1,361 during the day, leaving Maharashtra with an active tally of 7,228 cases.

The Omicron tally in Maharashtra stood at 4,629, with 4,456 people already having been discharged.


Meanwhile, Delhi on Sunday recorded 484 fresh COVID-19 cases and three deaths as the positivity rate stood at 0.95 per cent

With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,59,634 and the death toll climbed to 26,122.


The number of daily cases in the national capital has been on the decline after touching the record high of 28,867 on January 13. Delhi had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6 per cent on January 14, the highest during the ongoing wave of the pandemic.
