New Delhi: India reported 18,840 fresh cases, 16,104 recoveries, and 43 deaths, in the last 24 hours while active cases remained above the one lakh mark at 1,25,028 cases. The daily positivity rate has also increased to 4.14%. India's daily case tally has seen a slight increase as compared to Friday when the country was reported to have logged 18,815 fresh cases and 38 deaths. The active COVID cases surged to 1,22,335 from 1,19,457, an increase of 2,878. The weekly positivity rate stands at 4.09%.
India's COVID-19 case tally rose by 18,840 in a day to reach 4,36,04,394 while the number of active cases increased to 1,25,028, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.
The death toll has climbed to 5,25,386 with 43 more people succumbing to the viral disease, the data updated at 8 am stated.
Active caseload increased by 2,693 in a day and now comprise 0.29 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.51 per cent, the health ministry said.
The daily positivity rate was 4.14 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 4.09 per cent, according to the health ministry.
The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,29,53,980, while the case fatality rate was 1.20 per cent.
According to the ministry, 198.65 crore doses of COVID vaccine have been administered in the country so far.
COVID Cases In States
Kerala
Kerala registered 3,310 fresh coronavirus cases and 19 related deaths on Thursday, pushing the total number of those affected by the disease in the state to 66,66,959 and toll to 70,108.
According to the COVID-19 dashboard of the Kerala government, there are 28,021 active cases in the state and 4,172 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.
West Bengal
West Bengal reported 2,889 fresh COVID-19 cases, raising the tally to 20,42,831, as the upward graph of new infections continues in the state, an official bulletin said on Thursday. The death toll also mounted to 21,233 after three more fatalities were registered since Wednesday, it said.
The state had logged 2,352 single-day infections on Wednesday.
West Bengal now has 16,546 active cases, while 20,05,052 people have recovered from the disease so far, the bulletin said.
Maharashtra
Maharashtra on Friday reported 2,944 new Coronavirus cases, up by 266 from a day ago, and seven more COVID-related deaths, taking the state's overall tally to 79,98,673 and the toll to 1,47,971.
The addition to the cumulative tally was 2,678 on Thursday, while the number of deaths was higher at eight.
The recovery of 3,499 persons from the infection in the last 24 hours took the number of people discharged so far to 78,31,851. The active infections stand at18,851, PTI reported an official as stating.
State health department data showed the coronavirus recovery rate at 97.91 per cent and the fatality rate at 1.84 per cent.
