Jharkhand Covid-19 Cases:  As the increasing Omicron cases are raising concerns across the country, Jharkhand is burdened with covid cases along with the Omicron. The state registered covid cases in double digits almost after 58 days, which has raised many speculations

A bulletin issued by the health department confirmed 51 covid cases in a day. Of these 51, 25 cases were registered in Ranchi alone. With this, the total covid cases tally of the state has reached 236, with 102 cases in Ranchi.

Most of the cases are from those who have a travel history. The observation was made as most of the samples were collected from Ranchi and Hatia railway station, which confirmed that the individuals had a travel history. Amid the surge, the administration has emphasised tracing and tracking the people who recently traveled.

Although the rise in cases had instigated the fear that the entire region could face severe restrictions on Christmas eve, no such guidelines were issued by the government. However, at the beginning of December, the government had issued instructions to fight against the surging covid cases in the country, and every district deputy commissioner has been entrusted with the responsibility of complying with it.

Though Jharkhand has not reported any Omicron case yet, two of the adjoining states, West Bengal and Odisha have reported three and four Omicron cases respectively. The state government has asked all the departments to stay on alert and keep a watch on covid cases. The emphasis is on breaking the infection chain.
