New Delhi: Fortnite, the popular free-to-play cross-platform battle royale game, appears to be Disney’s favourite platform to build up excitement among Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans for upcoming movie releases. After dropping special skins for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ during the game’s Winterfest 2021 event, Fortnite introduced Doctor Strange as a playable character in March this year, to silently promote the upcoming ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, slated for release on May 6 in India. Now, it appears Scarlet Witch could soon make her way to Fortnite as well.

On May 3, known Fortnite dataminer iFireMonkey tweeted some screenshots of a character that looks suspiciously similar to Scarlet Witch. Only viewed from the rear, the character’s flowing red-tinged hair, striking red robe, and a glimpse of the headgear suggests that Scarlet Witch may actually be featured in Fortnite soon.

For those unaware, Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch first appeared in the MCU on ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ (2015) — following a blink-and-miss appearance in the mid-credits scene of ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ (2014). Portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen, Scarlet Witch went on to become a household name in 2021, thanks to the success of the Disney+ series, ‘WandaVision’. She is set to team up with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.

It should be noted that apart from iFireMonkey’s leak, Fortnite hasn’t officially confirmed the addition of Scarlet Witch yet. However, given the addition of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange earlier, it could be expected that Wanda Maximoff may make her official video game debut soon.

As mentioned earlier, Doctor Strange is an unlockable character in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2. Players with Battle Pass must reach Page 10 (reach level 90 or claim 90 rewards to do so) to be able to unlock the Sorcerer Supreme within the game.
