Ubisoft has revealed the anticipated release window for the Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake, slated for 2026. The announcement was made during the Ubisoft Forward 2024 event, accompanied by a brief teaser video. The remake has faced substantial development challenges, including delays and shifts between studios. Initially planned for an earlier release, the project experienced setbacks that necessitated changes in development teams and a shift to Ubisoft Montreal in 2022.

Prince Of Persia Sands Of Time Remake: The Trail Of Delays 


In November of last year, Ubisoft announced that the project at Ubisoft Montreal had achieved a significant internal milestone and was advancing steadily.


The first delay for Prince of Persia occurred in December 2020 shortly after its initial announcement, followed by an indefinite delay in February 2021. A major development shift occurred in May 2022, when Ubisoft transferred the project from Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai to Ubisoft Montreal. Since then, development has been ongoing at the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla studio, and by May 2023, Ubisoft confirmed the project had entered the "conception" phase of progress.

The original Sands of Time, a beloved title from 2003 available on PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, and PC, garnered critical acclaim and commercial success. Ubisoft has been working on this remake for over four years, and it has now entered full production with support from co-developing studios in Toronto, Bucharest, Paris, and Pune.
