Stray, the much-awaited cyberpunk cat adventure game, is finally set to release in July, alongside several more exciting titles across all platforms. On one hand, you have F1 22, the annual racing simulator from Codemasters, which received rave reviews from fans and critics alike on F1 2021. On the other hand, you have Loopmancer, a roguelite platformer that promises an engrossing storyline and a vast cyberpunk world to explore. Without further ado, here are the top five games releasing in July 2022 that we are most excited about.
F1 22
Release date: July 1
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
F1 22 is bound to play a little differently than the previous installations, as the Formula One governing body FIA announced new guidelines for cars this year. So, developer Codemasters had to also redo all the cars from scratch. Given the attention to detail the F1 games usually have, it will be interesting to see how the updated car models and physics pan out.
Loopmancer
Release date: July 14
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch
This 3D platformer brings an interesting story that revolves around a detective who comes back to life after dying unexpectedly. Loopmancer will let you explore a stunning cyberpunk universe and take on swarms of baddies in one cinematic battle after another. If you like platformers, we can’t imagine why you may want to skip Loopmancer.
Stray
Release date: July 19
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5
Ever wondered what it would be like to be a cat in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world? Stray will let you step into the shoes (err…paws?) of a stray kitty who must try to return to his family by meandering through a strange world populated by robots and deadly viruses. Developer BlueTwelve took the utmost care in ensuring that your stray moves (and behaves) like a real-life cat would. A platformer with open-world elements, Stray could very well be the breakout indie release this year. We’ll keep our whiskers crossed!
The cherry on the top: If you have an active PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium subscription, you will get to play Stray for free.
Digimon Survive
Release date: July 29
Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch
If you like Pokemon games but don’t have a Switch to play on, Digimon Survive may help scratch that survival strategy RPG itch. Interestingly, all the choices you make in the game will influence the overall direction of the story, adding to the replay value of Digimon Survive. The game will play out in a mix of different modes, from classic Digimon battles to search-and-survive.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Release date: July 29
Platform: Nintendo Switch
Following in the footsteps of the previous instalments, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will also be an action RPG that will allow up to seven party players to participate in tense battles. If you have played the previous Xenoblade games, you know exactly what to expect. However, if you haven’t yet, and want to try out a memorable open-world title on the Switch that will keep you hooked for hours, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 could be a great choice.
