Whoever thought Ka-Me-Ha-Me-Ha and Chicken Dinner fitted so well together? Battlegrounds Mobile India or popularly known as BGMI surprised us even more after doing a collaboration with Dragon Ball Super. Yes, you read it right. Two of your favourites and the OGs are now packaged into one. Krafton announced a collaboration between BGMI and the Dragon Ball Super universe some days back and since then, the game has had an update. You will actually be able to fly now in BGMI and guess what would be the cherry on top? You can even shoot Kamehameha in the game now. Not surprised enough? You will even be able to call Shenron now to get your wishes granted.

The new 2.7 updated version of BGMI features character sets such as Son-Goku and Prince Vegeta. Once you update the game you will have the option to play in Dragon Ball mode but, how is the game after the update actually? Has it changed for the better or for the worse? Let us dive into a detailed review of the game to see how it fares now as compared to the previous versions.

BGMI Update 2.7 Version Review

BGMI's collab with Dragon Ball Super will take you on a trip down memory lane, back to the days when watching the anime on Cartoon Network after school used to be the most sacred thing for most kids out there. Let us take a closer look at how the collaboration plays out.

Introduction Of Ki Moves In BGMI

You might be aware of how BGMI is played. If not, then in a nutshell, it is a game with matches of up to 100 players competing in squads or going solo and fighting to be the last man standing. As a typical shooter, BGMI allows you to take out enemies with guns or melee weapons. Now, in addition to that concept, you will get to fly in the game and shoot long-range attacks without even using any weapons. You will be able to use Goku's most popular move, Kamehameha. Apart from killing your opponents and surviving bit, you will also be collecting Dragon Balls during the game with which you will summon the wish-granting dragon Shenron.

You can make one wish, and in that wish you can choose to get your Ki-blasts strengthened or get some supplies or health perks. This is the gist of the new update. Now let us move on to the gameplay.

Gameplay Of BGMI 2.7

The gameplay is pretty smooth. It was expected that such heavy additions to the game would've made it lag but Krafton has handled it pretty well. They haven't compromised on the overall gameplay even a bit. The settings of the game remain unchanged in Version 2.6 and 2.7, but the difficulty level seems to be somewhat reduced and easier now.

It seemed like the number of bot players in the game has also gone up a bit. Though this change complements the concept of finding dragon balls as you need more time and focus for that.

Animation & In-Game Music Effects

The amount of detail that has gone into the perfection of the Ki-moves — especially the sound effects — and in Shenron is noteworthy. If any user have played 'Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot' or 'Dragon Ball Z: Sagas' then they must be aware of how a Kamehameha looks like, and how it sounds when shot. BGMI has attempted to match them and to a great extent, they have been successful.

Apart from the flying and Kamehameha, the other In-game sound effects remain to be the same. It would be safe to say that BGMI didn't lose out on its essence just for the collab.

New Additions: Senzu Beans & Flying Cars

Remember how you used to use First Aid Kits, bandages, painkillers, etc to boost your health? Now you can even use Senzu beans to do that. You will find them lying here and there as you used to find other health kits. However, there's a slight disappointment here. The whole point of Senzu beans in the Dragon Ball universe was that they used to replenish your health, ki, stamina and literally everything to its full but, in BGMI, one Senzu bean will only replenish somewhere around 33 per cent of your health. With three Senzu beans, you can get your health from around 10 per cent to max.

Do you recall the flying cars of Capsule Corp? You will get to drive them in BGMI as well now and don't worry, just like Bulma, you will be able to shrink them into a capsule which would make it easy for you to carry those vehicles around.

A Whole New Dragon Ball Mode

If you explore the unranked mode then you will see a section there named Dragon Ball. Enter into that mode and start playing. You will get to choose what character you wish to play. You'll get a choice to select Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo and Frieza. You will be firing their Ki-moves as well.

In this mode also you will be teaming up with three more characters and competing with other players who will also be among the aforementioned five characters.

Lobby Music

Hindi songs and music have been added in this update, however, they fail to uphold the standards of Dragon Ball games, which are known for their soothing music. The new Hindi songs that have been added though might give you a vibe of the darker side of YouTube that you would prefer to not explore.

The original BGMI theme music has also got an upgrade though which can be termed as an improvement. The classic theme has been filled with more beats and supporting music which make it even more of a banger than the original.

What We Liked: The additions that have been made to the game are really nice and Krafton has done its level best to uphold the reputation of both BGMI and Dragon Ball in this update. This version will give you a feeling of nostalgia and yet keep you hooked to it. Other than that, the graphics and sound effects are top-notch, and the gameplay is also pretty smooth. The best part about this update was that you get a mode in the unranked section in which you can play as Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Picolo, or even Frieza. You will be able to use their Ki-attacks as well.

What We Didn't Like: Failure to include Vegeta in the ranked modes. Dragon Ball is not just about Goku but it is also about Vegeta to a great extent but, none of his moves have been added to the game. It would've been lovely to see him also becoming a part of BGMI.

Our Rating: 8.5/10
