Battlegrounds Mobile India, popularly known as BGMI, has banned over 23,400 accounts for cheating in its latest round of sanctions. The Krafton-developed battle royale game regularly removes cheating accounts from the platform to ensure fair play. Additionally, on Thursday, BGMI also announced that it has conducted a patch to bring in some changes, including lowering the number of ammo when recalled in Core Circle theme mode. BGMI is a rebranded version of PUBG Mobile, which was banned by the Indian government along with 117 other Chinese apps in 2020. PUBG Mobile was eventually rebranded as Battlegrounds Mobile India and relaunched in the country by South Korea-based Krafton a year later.
Krafton announced on the official BGMI website that a total of 23,412 accounts were banned between May 30 and June 5. The developer regularly bans accounts that are found cheating to gain an advantage over other players. Such accounts get flagged for downloading the game from unofficial sources, or for using illegal programs on their devices. To better their gameplay, players can unfairly use modified files or banned scripts to easily defeat unsuspecting users. However, Krafton also lets users flag such instances of cheating from within the app itself.
In another announcement, Krafton said that on June 9, 12:50pm, it conducted a patch. It fixed an issue “where time is shown wrong when inviting friends to team up.”
Additionally, the patch also changed the number of equipped ammo when a player gets recalled in Core Circle theme mode. The ammo count used to 60. It has now been changed to zero.
Krafton also added that it is “closely looking into glitches reported and fixing them.”
