New Delhi: During this year's Academy Awards, actor Will Smith made headlines. In response to a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett’s look, Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock across the face. Later, Smith apologised on Instagram but has since been quiet.
On Friday, Smith posted a video in which he apologised again for the slap. He has done so by addressing questions that have been posed online. The actor has finally spoken out about the incident, revealing his most honest opinions about the incident.
The first question Will picked was, "Why didn't you apologise to Chris in your acceptance speech?" He responded by saying, "I was fogged out by that point. It’s all fuzzy. I've reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he is not ready to talk and when he is, he will reach out. So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behaviour was unacceptable and I am here whenever you are ready to talk."
Rosalie Rock, Rock's mother, revealed in a previous interview that the slap had an effect on the whole family. Will Smith also apologised to Rock’s family and his mom.
Will also addressed Jada Pinkett Smith was not involved in the slap. He said, “No, I made a choice of my own from my own experiences and from my history with Chris. Jada had nothing to do with it. Sorry babe, sorry to my kids and family for the heat that I brought on all of us."
For the unversed, During Academy Awards 2022, Chris Rock was joking about Jada Pinkett Smith's hair loss as he didn't know she had alopecia. Will Smith became enraged and marched up to the stage and slapped Rock.
