New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have been colleagues and friends for a long time. For years, they have competed with each other and lent support to each other in times of need. The Khan triumvirate including Aamir Khan have ruled the box office for years. Salman and Shah Rukh Khan have also worked together numerous times. Now, an old interview of Salman Khan's father Salim Khan has surfaced which talks about how 'love' was an impossibility between two 'rivals'.

In an old interview from 2014, Salim Khan spoke about the relationship between the two rivals and told PTI,"They are two individuals… Grown up people. I think there cannot be love between rivals. There can be courtesy. To have love between Salman and Shah Rukh is not possible. One should not expect that if Shah Rukh Khan’s film is a success then Salman will dance and celebrate. Or if Salman Khan’s film is a hit so Shah Rukh will throw a party… It’s not possible.”

The veteran actor-screenwriter also spoke about how today's generation does not show the same level of respect to their rivals."Today people are intolerant, impatient… small things hurt people, there are other people to create further problem. There should be courtesy between two rivals,” he said in the same interview.

Salman Khan made his Bollywood debut in 1988 with 'Biwi Ho Toh Aisi'  in the same year when Shah Rukh Khan made his television debut with the TV serial 'Fauji'. Both actors continued to work until Salman found Bollywood success with 'Maine Pyar Kiya' and Shah Rukh Khan with his Bollywood debut 'Deewana' in 1992. Through the 90s and 2000s, both gradually became one of the most successful actors to be working in the business. Despite, box office clashes, both remained friendly.

The last time Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan appeared together on screen was in 'Zero' starring Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Now, Salman Khan will be making a short cameo in 'Pathaan', as per reports. Likewise, Shah Rukh will be reciprocating the gesture by appearing in 'Tiger 3' in 2023.
