New Delhi: Bollywood filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri uses Twitter often to share his thoughts on a variety of topics related to politics, society, and the arts. On Friday, he made a sly jab at Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's 'uncomfortable fashion'. At Cannes 2023, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan captivated everyone in her stunning hooded gown with a lengthy train. Now, Vivek Agnihotri tweeted about female celebrities' need for assistance on the red carpet including a photo of Aishwarya on the carpet at Cannes 2023.

Vivek Agnihotri tweeted a photo of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was wearing a black dress and a silver hood on the Cannes red carpet. While she posed for photos, one of the team members helped the actress arrange her outfit on the red carpet.

Vivek wrote, “Have you guys heard of a term called ‘costume Slaves’? They are mostly girls (a suited man in this case). You can see them now in India too with almost every female celeb. Why are we becoming so stupid and oppressive just for such uncomfortable fashion?”

The self-made fashionista Uorfi Javed criticised the director for his remark. On Friday, Uorfi retweeted Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘costume slaves’ message, adding her own commentary. She wrote, “Mai jaan na chalti hu Aapne kaunse fashion school se apni degree lee Hai? Aapko delh k lagta hai aapko fashion ki kaafi samajh hai , fashion movie aapko direct karni chahiye this! (I want to know from which fashion school you got your degree? looks like you have a lot of knowledge about fashion, you should have directed the 'fashion' movie)”

Some people agreed with Vivek Agnihotri, however, Aishwarya Rai's supporters are questioning his judgement.
