Bollywood filmmaker and cinematographer Vijay Kumar Arora is returning to direct Son of Sardaar 2, a spiritual sequel to the 2012 film Son of Sardaar. The movie, produced by ADF (Ajay Devgn Films) and Panorama Studios, is set for release on 9 May 2025.
Arora began his career as a cinematographer and has worked on Bollywood films such as Vaastav: The Reality (1999), Kurukshetra (2000), Tum Bin (2001), Dhamaal (2007), ABCD (2013), and Any Body Can Dance 2 (2015). His work in these films is recognized in the industry for its technical execution.
As a director, Arora has worked on several Punjabi films, including Ronde Sare Vyah Picho (2013), Harjeeta (2018), Guddiyan Patole (2019), Kali Jotta (2023), and Godday Godday Chaa (2023). His film Harjeeta won the National Film Award for Best Punjabi Film, and he received nominations for Best Director for both Harjeeta and Guddiyan Patole.
Arora has also contributed to Indian television, particularly in the 1990s and 2000s, with notable projects like Hasratein, Sea Hawks, Hum Bombay Nahi Jayenge, and Shikast.
In addition, he has directed music videos for various artists, including Gippy Grewal, Mika Singh, B Praak, Raftaar, and Badshah, with collaborations with T-Series. His work on Sonu Nigam’s album Deewana has also been noted for its visual storytelling.
With Son of Sardaar 2, Arora returns to the director's chair for a sequel that continues the storylines from the original film while introducing new characters and narratives. The 2012 hit Son of Sardaar, known for its action-comedy blend, will see the sequel explore new storylines involving Punjabi and Bihari dons, mixing humor with dramatic sequences.
The film has generated industry interest, with expectations that it will maintain the tone of the first film while offering new elements.
