New Delhi: Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday starrer Liger released today amidst mixed early reviews. As boycott Bollywood films trends have been fanning on social media over the last month and have also targetted 'Liger', an old tweet of Deverakonda estimating the film's business seems to have gone viral. In the said tweet, Vijay Deverakonda said that his film will do more than Rs. 200 crores in theatres.

As per an ETimes report, the makers of 'Liger' had gotten an offer for a direct to digital release of Rs. 200 crores which the makers refused. Vijay had shared the same news and claimed that his film will do more in theatres. "Too little. I’ll do more in the theaters," Vijay's tweet had read.

However, the 'Arjun Reddy' actor is currently facing boycott calls all over social media. 'Liger' is being targeted in the trend because filmmaker and producer Karan Johar is associated with the film. Vijay Deverakonda, in a recent press event, had shared that he had nothing to fear because of all the hard work and 'heart, soul' put into the film.

Vijay had also said that when you are right there is no need to listen to anybody. The Southern superstar had also mentioned how much they do for the people and the country and that he did not belong to that set of people who sat in front of computers and tweeted.

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday are paired opposite each other for the first time in the film. Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy are also part of the supporting cast of 'Liger'. Helmed by Puri Jagannadh, veteran boxing champion Mike Tyson will also be making his Indian film debut with 'Liger'.

A lot anticipation is riding high on the success of 'Liger' considering it took a long time to make and the massive budget it has been bankrolled on.

Vijay Deverakonda's fan base is also quite excited for 'Liger' although the early reviews have been quite mixed for the film.

Co-produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Puri Jagannadh's Puri Connects, 'Liger' released on August 25, 2022.
