New Delhi: Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya starrer ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ has won the hearts of the viewers with its storyline. ‘YHM’, which was launched on December 3, 2013, has overtaken ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhu Bahu Thi’ to become the most successful show from the stable of Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms.

‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ originally featured Karan Patel as Raman Bhalla opposite Divyanka Tripathi. The actor quit the show to participate in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 10’. Chaitanya Choudhary stepped into the shoes of Karan Patel and entered the show as the new Raman Bhalla.

Gossip mills were buzzing with the Karan Wahi would play the lead role in the spin-off of ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’. The show titled ‘Yeh Hai Chahatein’ was supposed to replace ‘YHM’ but the buzz died when the rumours of Ekta Kapoor scrapping the spin-off circulated on the internet.

However, a report in a leading daily has suggested that Karan won’t play the male lead in the show. Abrar Qazi, who is currently seen as Raghu in Colors TV’s ‘Gathbandhan’, will essay the lead role in ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’. Abrar will be joined by Sargun Kaur, who was last seen as the female lead in Tantra.

“After considering several names, our search for the lead couple has ended with Abrar and Sargun. They are apt for the roles etched out for the central characters in the show,” a source told Times Of India.

On the professional front, Abrar Qazi made his Bollywood debut with Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Laila Majnu’ in 2018. His show 'Gathbandhan' will go off air next month.
