New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, a popular leader who pioneered pro-poor programmes and remained a pole for three decades, died in Chennai on Monday late night leaving a big void in the state politics.

The 68-year-old leader, who suffered a massive cardiac arrest on Sunday evening, passed away at 11:30 PM on December 05, after battling for life for 75 days, the Apollo Hospitals said in a statement.

A video of late Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa, giving interview to veteran Bollywood actress Simi Garewal is doing rounds on social media, since she passed away.

On the show titled 'Rendezvous with Simi Garewal',  'Amma' opened up about her crush on legendary actor Shammi Kapoor and sang her favourite Hindi song 'Aaja Sanam Madhur Chandni Mein Hum' from the film 'Chori Chori'.

The actress-turned politician also spoke about her equation with Tamil actor-politician Marudur Gopalan Ramachandran (MGR), whom she considered her mentor.
