New Delhi: Actor Sheezan Khan was granted bail on Saturday, 70 days after he was arrested for abetment to suicide in the Tunisha Sharma death case. Tunisha, who was Sheezan’s co-star in 'Ali Baba: Dastaan-e-Kabul', was found dead on the set of the show last year. The two were in a relationship and had broken up just 15 days before her death. After her death, Sheezan was arrested for abetment of suicide, following Tunisha’s mother’s complaint.
In a conversation with Bombay Times, Sheezan expressed his relief, saying that he now understands freedom's ‘true meaning’. “Today, I understand the true meaning of freedom and I can feel it. I was in tears the moment I saw my mother and sisters and I am so happy to be back with them. All I want to do for a few days is lie in my mother’s lap, eat food cooked by her, and spend time with my sisters and brother,” he was quoted as saying by Bombay Times.
When asked about Tunisha, Sheezan said, “I miss her and if she was alive, she would have fought for me.”
Earlier on Saturday, a video of Sheezan's final release from jail was doing the rounds on social media. In the video, he can be seen leaving the jail gate while wearing a mask. The actor's sisters Falaq and Shafaq Naaz can be seen hugging him as he exits the premises.
Sheezan's sister Falak also shared an Instagram story with 'Alhamdulillah', thanking God as the court granted bail to her brother.
Sheezan got bail on a surety of Rs 1 lakh and was told to surrender his passport to the court as part of the conditions of the bail.
Tunisha Sharma allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on December 24, 2022, on the sets of her TV serial 'Ali Baba: Dastaan-e-Kabul' near Valiv in Palghar. Sheezan was arrested the next day for abetment of suicide on a complaint lodged by Sharma's mother.
