New Delhi: Deepika Singh Goyal and Namik Paul starrer ‘Kawach Mahashivratri’ was launched with several expectations in May 2019. The supernatural saga replaced the top-rated show on Colors TV- ‘Naagin 3’. Despite the buzz, ‘Kavach’ has failed to set the TRP charts on fire. Gossip mills are now buzzing with the rumours that the show is under scanner and might go off air. The makers opted for a leap but the ratings never picked up.

A report in an entertainment portal suggested that ‘Kawach 2’ has been put under the scanner by the channel. The show might go off air if the ratings don’t pick up.

‘Kawach 2’ was originally launched at 8pm slot on weekends. However, the show got shifted to 7pm slot to make space for ‘The Khatra Show’. The change in time slot affected the numbers of the show as ‘Kawach Mahashivratri’ fetched a TRP of 0.7 in the latest set of BARC ratings.

Pranitaa Pandit, who plays the role of psychic Rekha in the show, opened up about the low numbers.

When asked what went wrong and why the show couldn’t rake in good TRPs, Pranitaa told IWMBuzz, “I think the time slot. We originally went on air at 8 which is early prime time. For any show to really go big, it needs a 9 pm or later time band. The original Kavach (Kavach… Kali Shaktiyon Se) came at super prime time, raking in huge numbers.”

“No wonder we opened to a below par 1, peaking to 1.3, but then things really went down when we were shunted to the 7 pm slot to make way for Khatra Khatra Khatra, a little while back. This development saw our numbers dropping by a whopping 50%. We were already at a weak slot, but were then pushed into an even weaker one,” the ‘Uttaran’ actress further told the portal.

‘Kawach Mahashivratri’ is the second season of Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kavach- Kali Shaktiyon Se’. The show featured Mona Singh and Vivek Dahiya in lead roles.
