Small screen heartthrob Shaheer Sheikh, who was last seen in Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi opposite Erica Fernandes, is all set to make his return with Mughal-E-Azam on Colors TV. The handsome actor will be seen playing the role of Salim in Anirudh Pathak’s banner Writer Galaxy's upcoming historical saga. The makers of the show have roped in veteran actress Aruna Irani to play an important role in the much-awaited show.


According to a report in Tellychakkar, the ‘Beta’ actress will play the character of Hamida Banu Begum in the show. She was the wife of Hamada Mughal Emperor Humayun . Hamida was also known as Maryam Makani, a title given to her by her son Akbar. Irani, will thus play the character of Salim’s (Shaheer) grandmother in the upcoming daily on Colors TV.

The report in the entertainment portal also said that the team was keen to have on board actors who can do complete justice to the characters of the show.  Anirudh Pathak found Irani perfect for the role, the report added.

Confirming the development, the Bobby actress told Tellychakkar, “It is a very dignified role. She is someone whom everyone obeys including Akbar. She is dominating yet very emotional.”

Talking about Aruna Irani, the Filmfare award winner made her comeback to the small screen with Laksh Lalwani starrer Porus. She played the role of Oracle in the Swastik Productions show.

A source close to the show told the portal that the cast and crew will soon head to Rajasthan for the promo shoot.
