New Delhi: Tamil actor Vijay Antony was injured while shooting for his upcoming film 'Pichaikkaran 2'. Vijay was injured while shooting an action sequence in Malaysia. The action sequence was being shot in Langkawi island and the actor was immediately rushed to the hospital after the accident, reported Hindustan Times. Vijay is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
A source told Hindustan Times that Vijay was injured while sailing a water boat. "They were shooting for an action sequence. He was riding a water boat which kind of lost control and rammed into a bigger boat which was carrying the cameraman’s crew and setup. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur. He’s recovering and stable,” the source said.
Giving an update about the same, producer Dhananjayan shared on Twitter that Vijay was doing better, "Been checking since morning with Team there & family members. @vijayantony was injured while shooting for #Pichaikkaran2 at #Lankavi . He is now stable & recovering. His family is flying tonight to be with him. #VijayAntony is a strong man & praying for his speedy recovery (sic)."
Vijay Antony is making his directorial debut with 'Pichaikkaran 2.' The film also stars Yogi Babu, John Vijay and Kavya Thapar. The film went on the floor a few months ago. As per reports, Vijay was taken to a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur, where he was admitted for treatment.
'Pichaikkaran 2' is the sequel to the highly successful Tamil drama 'Pichaikkaran' which was directed by Sasi. The film revolved around a billionaire who lived a 48-day-long secret life as a beggar to save his dying mother as part of a religious offering.
Besides 'Pichaikkaran 2', Vijay also has films like Agni Siragugal, Khaki, Kolai, Ratham, and Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan and Tamilarasan in the pipeline.
