New Delhi: Late actor Irrfan Khan's son, Babil Khan, made his acting debut with Anvita Dutt Guptan's 'Qala'. Recently, many Bollywood celebrities, including Tabu and Tripti Dimri, attended the Mumbai premiere of the Netflix movie. At the screening event, Tabu, who was a friend of Irrfan, broke down in tears as she hugged Babil. Tabu and Irrfan had worked on a couple of movies together including 'The Namesake', 'Haider', 'Life of Pi' and many others.
Tabu and Babil later posed for the paparazzi and she looked gorgeous in the black outfit that she had worn. In the photos and videos shared on social media, Tabu can be seen congratulating Babil at the 'Qala' premiere.
The 'Drishyam 2' actress then gives the budding star a warm hug to convey her best wishes. Following their touching encounter, Tabu held Babil's hand as the two posed for pictures with the photographers. Netizens became emotional on seeing such a sweet moment between Tabu and Babil.
The audience left their comments on the videos and photos. One of the users said, "I just hope and pray he comes so well and is given all the love and support from the industry. Good Luck Babil.", while another user said, "This made me cry this is so emo to watch them."
Babil's mother, Sutapa Sikdar was also present for the movie premiere. Fans are anticipating Babil's performance and are thrilled to watch him make his Bollywood debut. at the trailer launch, Babil was asked which qualities of his father he would like to emulate to which he replied, that his father took all his qualities with him, and now he wants to explore his.
Sharing about carrying on his father's legacy, Babil told Hindustan Times, “I am always comparing myself to the legacy…you know, bhaar hai (there is a weight on my shoulders). I am a person who wants to give the best when I am doing something."
He further added, "We shot this two years ago. I have grown as an actor a lot. So, I always wonder ‘I wish I would have done this or that’. But I also believe that whatever art you make has its own journey and you can’t bring your own ego into it.”
The psychological drama also stars Tripti Dimri and Swastika Mukherjee in key roles. Set in the backdrop of the 1930s, this movie shows the turbulent relationship between an aspiring singer and her controlling mother. The movie has released on Netflix on Decemebr 1, 2022
