‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is one of the most popular shows on Indian television. The popularity of the show has remained unfazed in the last fourteen years. One of the main characters of the sitcom Dayaben, played by Disha Vakani, is been missing from the show since 2017 when the actress went on a maternity break. The show’s producer Asit Modi had recently said that Dayaben’s character will make an entry on the show soon.
Following his statement, there were reports of Aishwarya Sakhuja reprising the role of Dayaben in the series. It was also said that the actress has given an audition for the role.
In an interview with The Times of India, Aishwarya confirmed the news of auditioning but also revealed that she doesn’t think she has got the part.
“I had auditioned 20–25 days back. I can sense some kind of urgency when they are casting Dayaben’s character. So, I was called to audition for the role. Usually, we get a call back within like a week’s time. But since it’s been that long, I don’t think I am doing it,” the actress was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
She also told The Times of Indian about her preparation for the audition, “I did see a few scenes – but I didn’t want to really copy her way of talking and accent. I wanted to make it more relatable because I will be stepping into another actor’s shoes so the quality traits need to be the same. Dayaben is a really mad character, and that’s completely opposite to me in real life."
We guess the audience will have to wait longer to see Dayaben’s return to Gokuldhaam Society.
