New Delhi: Popular comedian Raju Srivastava is in the intensive care unit of AIIMS for a fortnight following a heart attack on August 10. His fans and family have been praying for his recovery.

Raju Srivastava’s family and his associates like Sunil Pal, and Shekhar Suman have been providing updates about his health on social media.

Comedian Sunil Pal on Wednesday said that if Srivastava continues to show progress like he has been doing over the past couple of days, he may be removed from the ventilator "today".

Sharing his present health status to IANS, Pal said: "As far I know, his response is positive and he is recovering. The rest all depends on prayers. We have to think positive. His body is reacting in different ways and that is the reason there are a number of statements being given by everyone. By God's grace, right now, he is stable. Let's hope for the best."

"I am not sure because I have not spoken to his family but I have heard he can be removed from the ventilator today. As of now, nothing is confirmed. It all depends on his health. I will be traveling to Delhi in two or three days to see him. He is my big brother and guide and we have to pray for his early recovery," Sunil told IANS.

The 58-year-old stand-up comedian suffered a heart attack while he was working out in a South Delhi gym. Raju was complaining that he felt uneasy when he was moved to the hospital. He underwent an angioplasty the same day and is on a ventilator ever since.

On Tuesday, Raju’s representative had said that the doctors have assured them of his recovery but added that 'it will take time'.

Speaking with Indian Express, Raju’s representative said, “He is stable and doctors are treating him well. But he is still unconscious. He is on a ventilator and also doctors are keeping watch on him round the clock. Doctors have said that he will recover but it will take time.”

Raju Srivastava rose to fame with the first of its kind stand-up comedy talent hunt show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge', with its first season premiering in the year 2005

He has appeared in Hindi films such as "Maine Pyar Kiya", "Baazigar", "Bombay to Goa" (remake), and "Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya". He was one of the contestants on "Bigg Boss" season three.
