Actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan is expected to travel to Singapore after his younger son, Mark Shankar, sustained minor injuries in a fire incident at his school.
According to preliminary, unconfirmed reports, the eight-year-old, who is studying at a school in Singapore, experienced minor injuries and some breathing discomfort due to smoke inhalation. He is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, sources said.
The fire, which broke out earlier in the day, was reportedly brought under control within 30 minutes by emergency personnel. Media reports state that 19 people, including 15 students, were taken to hospitals for treatment.
Firefighters responding to the call discovered the blaze had affected the second and third floors of the building. Witnesses, including nearby construction workers and bystanders, are said to have assisted in helping students exit the building safely.
As a precautionary measure, around 80 people in the surrounding area were evacuated. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
Pawan Kalyan order inquiry after students claim they missed exam dur to his convoy
Earlier, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Minister had ordered an inquiry into reports about students missing their JEE exam in Pendurthi due to his convoy. The actor-politician also directed the Vishakhapatnam Police to investigate several aspects leading to the delay, including how long the traffic was halted, the traffic conditions, and more.
Pawan Kalyan's action came after 30 students in Vishakhapatnam claimed on Monday that they could not reach their exam centre and failed to take the engineering entrance exam after being delayed by traffic restrictions done for a smooth passage of Pawan Kalyan's convoy.
Meanwhile, the police have rejected the students claims stating that the students were expected to reach the exam centres by 7 AM and had those 30 students been on time, no one would have questioned the traffic regulations.
