Rang De Basanti fame actor Siddharth is recieving severe backlash on Twitter over his 'crass' tweet on ace badminton player Saina Nehwal.
Siddharth was replying to a tweet made by badminton player Saina Nehwal regarding PM Modi's recent security lapse incident in Punjab.
While, quoting Saina's tweet Siddharth hurled a 'sexual slur' that badly irked netizens and the actor was trolled left, right, centre.
On January 5, in reference to PM Narendra Modi's convoy's security breach in Punjab's Ferozepur, Nehwal had tweeted to condemn the act calling it a ‘cowardly attack on PM by anarchists.’
Her tweet reads as: "No nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own PM gets compromised. I condemn, in the strongest words possible, the cowardly attack on PM Modi by anarchists. #BharatStandsWithModi #PMModi (sic)."
Quoting Saina's tweet, Siddharth wrote in response: "Subtle cock champion of the world... Thank God we have protectors of India (sic)."
Soon Siddharth was at the receiving end as netizens bashed him for his apparent 'sexist' remark on the Olympic medallist which was definetely not in good taste.
Not only netizens were angered over Siddharth for targetting a national level player but also using a sexual slur to express his dissent. Singer Chinmayi Sripada bashed Siddharth for his sexist slur, calling his remark really crass. She wrote,"This is really crass, Siddharth. You just contributed to what a lot of us women are fighting against."
Chinmayi also mentioned later in the comments section that one can call out anyone on disagreeing with them without passing misogynistic comments.
One Twitter user wrote, “So @TwitterIndia provides a blue tick and normalises this crass sexual slur hurled at a national sports icon by a two-bit actor, and they talk about how they want to make Twitter a ‘safe space’ for women. This is not the first time this Siddharth Sicko has done this (sic).”
Another Twitter user mentioned,"Tells a lot about your crass upbringing. You should sue your parents for the childhood trauma that you must have suffered instead of spreading your vitriol online."
One Twitter user slammed him for his language and wrote,"Stop harassing her! Your use of language is plain misogyny! Unadulterated hatred!
