Mohali: Punjabi singer and lyricist Shree Brar  was arrested on Tuesday here on charges of promoting gun culture in his popular song "Jaan", which has managed to rake in over 13 million views on YouTube in a span of month. The Punjab Police registered a case against Brar under Section 294 (punishment for obscene act in any public place) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of IPC.  The police has also registered cases against co-singer Barbie Mann, Gurneet Dosanj and others who appeared in the music video.

In the music video, the singer can be seen saying that he is close to criminals that the government is scared of and that he keeps two weapons with him. He goes on to proclaim what Ansari (gangster) is to Uttar Pradesh, he is to Bathinda city . The singer can be clearly seen pointing guns at policemen at a police station, asking them to release criminals.

Another singer Barbie Mann -- who was also booked under the same sections -- can be seen glorifying the gun culture and criminals.
Police are now conducting raids to nab other singers of the video. It may be mentioned that earlier also Punjab Police has taken action against Punjabi singers who promoted weapons. Singer Sidhu Moosewala was also booked and arrested for using an Ak47 gun in a video clip that went viral on social media in May last year.
