New Delhi: ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is one of the most popular shows on Indian television. So, when Shailesh Lodha, who played Taarak Mehta in the show, left the show, fans were shocked.
Shailesh hinted many times through his Instagram post that all was not well between him and the maker of the show Asit Modi.
Now, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Shailesh spoke about the show. When asked about his reason for quitting, Shailesh recited lines by Bashir Badr. “Kuch toh majbooriyan rahi hongi, yun hi koi bevafa nahi hota (There must be some reason, people don’t leave without reason.) It’s not like I won’t reveal why I left the show. I will say but only at the right time,” he said in the interview.
Shailesh also spoke about how his attachment to the show after working in it for 14 years. “We Indians are emotional people so we get attached to everything, there is no doubt about that. I am an emotional person. In fact, I call myself an emotional idiot. I am a sentimental fool. Attachment is natural. And if you do anything for 14 years, it will happen,” he told Siddharth Kannan.
During his exit, there were reports that the actor was not happy with the exclusive contract that he had to sign with the makers of the show.
"He is not very happy with his contract and he feels that his dates are not properly used in the show. One of the other reasons behind taking this decision is with 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah', the talented actor is not able to explore other opportunities due to the exclusivity factor. He has turned down multiple offers in recent times and now he doesn't want to waste other opportunities that keep coming his way. The production house is trying its best to convince Sailesh to stay back but looks like the seasoned actor and well-known poet has already made up his mind." TOI had quoted its source then.
Sachin Shroff has replaced Shailesh Lodha in the show.
