Shahid Kapoor's 'Jersey' Release Postponed To Avoid Clash With Yash Starrer 'KGF: Chapter 2'

The film, that was previously postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has been postponed once again to avoid clash with south superstar Yash's 'KGF: Chapter 2', slated to release on April 14.

New Delhi: It seems as if Shahid Kapoor's 'Jersey' does not have release on the cards. The film, that was previously postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, has been postponed once again to avoid clash with south superstar Yash's 'KGF: Chapter 2', slated to release on April 14.

Shahid Kapoor's 'Jersey' was earlier slated to release on December 31, but got postponed due to the shutdown of theatres owing to the Omicron virus. After things returned to normal, the makers locked April 14 as the release date of the film. But now, keeping in view the excitement for the second installment of Yash's film, the makers of 'Jersey' have once again decided to postpone the film's release in order to avoid clash at the box-office.

'Jersey' starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur will now release on April 22.

Recently, the makers had released the second trailer of the film, that goes on to dive deeper into Shahid's character as a cricketer, highlighting Arjun's passion and undying love for cricket. 

 The film has an endearing storyline that shows a father getting back in the game to fulfill his son's dreams. The film will also see Shahid's father and veteran actor Pankaj Kapur in a pivotal role.

'Jersey' has been written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. The film is the remake of the 2019 Telugu film titled the same, that starred actors Nani and Shraddha Srinath in the lead roles.

On the other hand, Yash starrer 'KGF: Chapter 2' has been setting unprecendented records at the box-office with its advance bookings. The audience is very much excited to see Bollywood actors Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon essaying powerful roles in the film. Fans across the nation are eagerly awaiting to see the intense drama on the silver screen.

Releasing nationwide on April 14, 2022, in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam, K.G.F.: Chapter 2 is written and directed by Prashanth Neel, one of the most sought-after directors, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, under the Hombale Films banner.

The film is being presented in North-Indian markets by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment and AA Films.

Along with 'KGF: Chapter 2', Thalaptahy Vijay's 'Beast' is also slated to release on April 14. Given the massive fan following of the two south superstars, the makers of 'Jersey' have finally decided to step down from releasing the film on April 14, to avoid clash with two magnum opus dramas.
