New Delhi: Sara Ali Khan belongs to the royal Pataudi family and yet considers herself like any regular Mumbai girl. Her mother Amrita Singh is connected to Sobha Singh ( one of the people who re-modelled Delhi) and is the grandniece of novelist Khushwant Singh. On her father's side, she is the granddaughter of actors Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan, the last Nawab of Pataudi. The actor, who is currently awaiting the release of 'Gaslight' spoke about having a normal upbringing in Mumbai and having a simple life, not connected to royalty.


In an interview with The Hindu, the 'Atrangi Re' actor said, "I find it ridiculous when people think that. I don’t associate myself as a royal.” She added, "I’ve lived in Juhu in Mumbai most of my life with my mother. I go to Bandra to meet my dad. I holiday in Himachal Pradesh and Kedarnath and Jammu and Kashmir. Like seriously, I don’t know what royal means.”


Sara Ali Khan's parents Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh were divorced in 2004 and she and her younger brother Ibrahim Ali Khan were brought up by Amrita. 


Meanwhile, on the work front, Sara will be seen with Chitrangda Singh and Vikrant Massey in 'Gaslight'. In the film, Sara plays Meesha, a woman bound to a wheelchair who comes home to her father only to find him missing. Her stepmother( Chitrangda) and those on the family estate get involved in a murder mystery which involves Vikrant Massey who teams up with Messha to find her father.


Directed by Pawan Kriplani, 'Gaslight' will be released on Disney+Hotstar on March 31, 2023.


Meanwhile, Sara also has Homi Adajania's next titled 'Murder Mubarak' in which she will act alongside Karisma Kapoor. She will also be seen with Vicky Kaushal in Laxman Utekar's upcoming film which has not been titled yet. Sara also has a period-drama to her credit titled 'Ae Watan Mere Watan' which is an Amazon Prime film. She will be seen portraying the role of Usha Mehta, the Indian freedom fighter and underground radio broadcaster in it.
