New Delhi: Sapna Chaudhary, popular Haryanvi dancer and performer, was granted interim bail till May 25 by a Lucknow court in connection with a cheating case. Sapna will now be summoned for trial on 8th June. An FIR was lodged with Ashiana police in 2018 when Sapna did not turn up for an event and the organizers of the show did not initiate refunds to audiences who had bought tickets to the show.


According to PTI, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Shantanu Tyagi has asked Sapna to furnish two sureties of ₹ 20,000 each and a personal bond of the same amount.


An FIR was lodged on October 13, 2018 by a sub-inspector who had alleged that Sapna Chaudhary did not show up for an event, in Smriti Upvan Lucknow, the tickets for which were sold to thousands of people.


Since Sapna did not show up at the event, it had to be cancelled. However, unlike usual practice, the event organizers failed to refund the money to people who had bought tickets to Sapna's show.


Accoridng to PTI, the police had filed a charge sheet against Sapna Chaudhary and others on January 20, 2019. Sapna was summoned to trial after the offence was duly recorded in court.


Sapna Chaudhary has also been part of the reality TV show 'Bigg Boss' wherin she appeared in Season 11.


Sapna began dancing at an early age to help her family financially after her father passed away in 2008. She also sings in the Haryanvi local dialect and is equally famous for both her singing and dancing styles. Sapna usually opts for the Raagini style of singing, as is the popular form of folk singing in Haryana.


On the personal front, she married singer Veer Sahu in 2020 and has a son with him.
