New Delhi: 'Samrat Prithviraj' has opened to a good response at the box office. The Akshay Kumar, Manushi Chhillar starrer has become one of the four biggest openers of Bollywood post pandemic at the box office. After 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', 'Bachchan Paandey', and 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', 'Samrat Prithviraj' is are the four biggest Bollywood openers at the box office post pandemic. Akshay's 'Bachchan Pandey' is also part of the list, making it the A-listers second film in the highest-opening club.


Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared Samrat Prithviraj's business at the box office. He wrote, "TOP 4 - *Day 1* Biz - 2022 Release…1. #BhoolBhulaiyaa2: ₹ 14.11 cr [non-holiday] 2. #BachchhanPaandey: ₹13.25 cr [#Holi; shows from post-noon] 3. #SamratPrithviraj ₹ 10.70 cr [non-holiday] 4. #GangubaiKathiawadi: ₹ 10.50 cr [non-holiday] #Hindi films. Nett BOC. #India biz."


Taran Adarsh also wrote, "#SamratPrithviraj gathered momentum towards evening on Day 1... Biz at metros - which started slow - did not escalate, but mass circuits showed upward trends... Biz should grow on Day 2 and 3, needs that push for a strong weekend total... Fri ₹ 10.70 cr. #India biz."



The first weekend's performance will only be calculated post Sunday. 'Samrat Prithviraj' is riding high on word of mouth as is Adivi Sesh's 'Major' which has also received rave critical reviews, however, 'Major' hasn't really picked up the pace yet.


Taran Adarsh also mentioned that 'Major's business is below the mark. "#Major is below the mark on Day 1... Both films were released on the same weekend.


'Major' is a biographical action-thriller based on the life of an army officer, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who sacrificed his life during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.


'Samrat Prithviraj' on the other hand is an epic period film that stars Akshay Kumar, Manushi Chhillar, Sonu Sood, Sanjay Dutt, Ahsutosh Rana and Sakshi Tanwar. The film is a fictional retelling of the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, a warrior king from the Chahamana dynasty.
