New Delhi: Veteran Hollywood actor Robert De Niro has welcomed another child at the age of 79. The actor is now the father of seven children. De Niro confirmed the news during an exclusive interview with ET Canada.

During the interview, the Academy Award winner, while promoting his upcoming film, 'About My Father', discussed parenthood.

"There's no way around it with kids. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can't," he said in the interview.

When asked about his six children, De Niro corrected the interviewer, revealing that he has seven children.

"I just had a baby," he said. He didn't give any further details.

A representative for De Niro later confirmed the birth to The Associated Press but said no other details or statement were expected.

The Oscar winner is father to Drena, 51, and Raphael, 46, from his first marriage; and twins, Julian and Aaron, 27; Elliot, 24; and Helen Grace, 11, from his second marriage.
