New Delhi: Ratan Raajputh, who rose to fame with shows like 'Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo' and 'Ratan Ka Rishta', hasn't appeared on television in almost four years. She last appeared in the mythological drama 'Santoshi Maa', which aired on &TV. The actor recently admitted that she was suffering from depression and had hence taken a break from acting.

Sharing her story with Bombay Times, the actress said that she had taken a break from the small screen after her father's death in 2018. She opened up about her mental condition and shared that she was suffering from depression and had therefore decided to pay attention to herself for a while.

Ratan told Bombay Times, "After Santoshi Maa got over in 2018, just a day later, I lost my father and that was a terrible blow for me. I went into depression and did not want to do anything."

In addition to seeing psychologists to treat her condition, the actor made a decision to study psychology as well in order to get better.

Raajputh added, "I did not want to take any medication, so I decided to study psychology to understand the subject better. Apart from consulting psychologists about my condition, I also started travelling and decided to explore village life. I left Mumbai for a while."

The actor also said that she lived in a village in Maharashtra for three months and tried her hand at farming too, which had proven to be therapeutic for her. Not only did she learn about life in villages in the process, but she said that she learnt to see life anew.

Talking about her experiences she further told the Bombay Times, "I enjoyed my time there and this journey helped me explore my inner self, too. I also learnt that when you travel, you learn a lot about people, which you don’t get to do otherwise. Acting has taught me many things, but living in rural areas gave me a new perspective on life."

The actor had kept herself away from showbiz and did not even watch TV or web series. “I did not watch TV or web shows in the past few years even though I had two TV sets at home. Now it is time to get back to work and focus on new beginnings. But my time off made me understand that work is a part of your life, work is not your life.”, she was quoted as saying by Bombay Times.

After taking such a long break post her father's demise, Ratan Raajputh plans to return to showbiz soon.
