The trailer of Kabir Khan’s much-awaited film, ‘83’ starring Ranveer Singh in a lead role was recently released and it has been receiving positive reviews from both the audience and critics alike. Based on Team India's first World Cup win in 1983, the film stars Ranveer as cricketer Kapil Dev. Post the trailer's release, Kapil shared his family's reaction for the same and especially on Deepika playing his wife Romi Bhatia in the movie.

Speaking to The Quint, Kapil said that the family has ‘mixed’ reactions. “I think mixed because I don’t know how much the role of my wife is in 83, so one does not realise that what they are trying to do there,” he said.

Further, while showering praise on Ranveer Singh’s performance in the film Kapil called him a ‘great actor’. He said, “I think you feel happy that such a great, talented actor is trying to work on that. I was little worried also because it’s a very athletic job to do that. But the way he worked and the way he was working through out in the last one year, I couldn’t believe that somebody can be so much keen in trying to do so much in that movie.”

After the trailer got thunderous response from the audience, Ranveer had taken to his social media handles to pen a heartfelt post. It read, ‘Thank you to movie fans all over the country and beyond, our film fraternity, the press… people from all walks of life and generations have appreciated the movie’s trailer, and we are filled with gratitude and gladness. This is not just a movie – it’s a glorious tribute to that moment in Indian history that changed it all! It’s about the great achievement of the Indian Cricket Team of 1983 – ‘Kapi’s Devils’! These men are legends, and it’s an honour to be a part of the cinematic telling of their iconic story on the big screen! Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous and loving messages! Kaptaan Kabir Khan, it’s everything you dreamed of! Take a bow!’

‘83 also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Addinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, R Badree and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles.

83 was originally scheduled to release in 2020 but was postponed due to Covid-19. The Kabir Khan directorial will release in theatres on December 24 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
