New Delhi: Earlier this year, Prashanth Neel's ‘KGF: Chapter 2’, which stars Yash, smashed many box office records. However, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has claimed that the film was disliked by several in the Hindi cinema business. He was also surprised that a film like KGF: Chapter 2 had been so successful.

According to Ram Gopal Varma's comments in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, “Two films that have f**ked up everything are KGF - Chapter 2 and The Kashmir Files. They are the opposite ends of the spectrum. The scary part of KGF – Chapter 2 is that nobody in Bollywood liked it. When a film you didn’t like does such numbers, you’ll be confused and you don’t know what to do.”

He continued his criticism of KGF by saying that despite its massive success at the box office, no one in Bollywood appreciated the Yash starrer. "‘Ramu, I tried to watch it five times but I couldn’t go beyond half an hour’. He then got back to working on the script for his next film. While arguing over a scene, his scriptwriter reasoned, ‘But this kind of scene worked in KGF: Chapter 2, right?’! There’s a line in Hollywood, ‘You can argue with content, but you can’t argue with success’! Hence, whether or not you liked it, you can’t ignore its success," he said.

KGF 2 is the highest-grossing Indian film of 2022 and the highest-grossing Kannada film of all time. On April 14, ‘KGF Chapter 2’ was released to a resounding reception at the box office. After Aamir Khan's ‘Dangal’ and Prabhas's Pan-India movie ‘Baahubali 2’, it became India's third highest-grossing film of all time.

The movie was met with universal acclaim. Shattering box office records, the movie earned over Rs 1100 cr internationally. In addition to Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon, the cast of the sequel also includes Prakash Raj, Malavika Avinash, and Srinidhi Shetty.
