New Delhi: Bollywood actor Rahul Dev has spoken up about parenting his kid Siddharth Dev after his wife Rina Dev passed away. In 2009, Rahul lost his wife Rina Dev to cancer, and since then he has been raising their son Siddharth on his own. He has now spoken publicly about the challenges he faces as a widowed dad.

Rahul recently said in an interview that he struggled with insecurity as he juggled the roles of mother and father for his kid. He went on to say that contrary to popular belief, being a widow is not a cakewalk.

During an interview with Connect FM Canada, he discussed the challenges of raising a child alone. Rahul said, "Parenting is not easy at all. Women have a big hand in raising children, the way they understand children, probably because it comes out of them. The kind of patience they have for children, I tried a lot, but there were times when I would lose my cool, my frame of mind. I had to try to be both mom and dad. When I would go to parent-teacher meetings at school, I would see mostly mothers. Rarely I would meet one guy but his wife would be there. At that time, I would feel a sense of deep insecurity. I would feel where are the men."

He continued, "It's very painful. A lot of it I don't want to remember. A lot of it I would not wish on anyone, that kind of situation. It looks easy in films, so many times films show that someone became a widower. But starting again is not easy at all."

The actor also discussed his past relationship with Mughda Godse, revealing that he believed it was unfair for her to date him because of their 14-year age difference. For the unversed, Rahul dated Mughda Godse for more than eight years.
