New Delhi: Pradeep Sarkar, a talented filmmaker, has passed away. On March 24 at 3:30 in the morning, he died at the age of 67. The well-known director's resume includes such blockbusters as ‘Parineeta’, ‘Laga Chunari Mein Daag’, ‘Mardaani’, and ‘Helicopter Eela’.
Reports claim that Pradeep Sarkar was undergoing dialysis and his potassium level was dangerously low. Around 3 a.m., after being transported to the hospital, he died there.
On Twitter, director Hansal Mehta provided confirmation of the same. Hansal shared a photo of Pradeep and wrote, "Pradeep Sarkar. Dada. RIP."
Actor Ajay Devgn also paid his condolences.
Lafangey Parindey star Neil Nitin Mukesh posted photos from the film's set and other promotional events, remembering the director.
Actress Nimrat Kaur dedicated a post to the late director.
Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri referred to Pradeep as a "gem" in his tweet.
He got his start in the film industry with Rajkumar Hirani, with whom he co-edited the movie ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’. ‘Parineeta’, starring Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, and Sanjay Dutt, was his debut film as a filmmaker. He has also directed the films ‘Lafangey Parindey’ and ‘Mardaani’. His last picture was ‘Helicopter Eela’, in which Kajol played the lead role.
When it came to commercial films, Sarkar was a name to remember. Several popular songs from the 90s and early 2000, like 'Dhoom Pichak Dhoom', 'Maaeri' and 'Ab Ke Saawan' by Shubha Mudgal, were filmed by him.
