In a shocking turn of events, popular Bengali actress Pratyusha Paul has allegedly been harassed on social media. The Bengali TV actor has filed a complaint on alleged online harassment and says she received rape threats from an anonymous online account on Instagram.
Pratyusha complained that she has been receiving vulgar messages and rape threats on social media platform from a particular user. Initially, she ignored it and blocked the user. But every time, she blocked, the user opened a new account and started sending her abusive messages once again.
Cyber Cell of Kolkata Police lodged a case on her complaint and has begun the probe.
In a conversation with a news portal, the actress reportedly claimed that it all began in July 2020, when an anonymous account started sending her lewd messages on Instagram. She is quoted saying, 'The account used to send extremely lewd messages to me on Instagram. I was told that as a public person, such things happen and I should not pay attention to it.' Furthermore, she reportedly went on to add, 'I have blocked the accounts 30 times and this is the 31st time that the person has created a new account and threatened me again on Instagram. The person has abused me by sending rape threats. Hence, my mother visited Lalbazar for the second time today.'
This comes days after another popular actress from Bengali industry Shruti Das has alleged that she has been facing harassment due to her skin tone for almost two years now. The actress who plays lead role in ‘Desher Maati’ raised her voice on social media following which Police assured her of all kinds of help.
Coming back to Pratyusha, the actress is a popular face of Bengali television who stepped into the showbiz quite young. She became a Bengali household name by playing Devi Lakshmi’s role in the mythological show ‘Eso Ma Lokkhi’. She was last seen in ‘Guriya Jekhane Guddu Sekhane’ where she essayed the lead role.
