New Delhi: Nora Fatehi on Friday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate for recording her statement in connection with the Rs 200 crore extortion case involving multi-millionaire conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. Fatehi has been questioned by the ED in the past.

According to PTI sources the actor, known for her dance numbers in Bollywood films, will be questioned about Chandrashekhar and her statement will be recorded under the sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The ED, in its supplementary chargesheet, had named actor Jacqueline Fernandez as an accused while Fatehi's statement was included in the same prosecution complaint.

Fernandez, who was summoned by the ED several times in connection with the investigation, was named as an accused for the first time in the supplementary charge sheet.

The ED’s earlier charge sheet and supplementary charge sheet did not mention her as an accused.

The documents, however, had mentioned the details of the statements recorded by Fernandez and fellow actor Nora Fatehi.

Jacqueline was granted bail on November 15 on a bond of Rs 2 lakh. The court granted the bail stating that the actress was not arrested earlier.

Earlier on November 30, Pinky Irani, an alleged aide of conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, was remanded in police custody for three days.

Irani allegedly facilitated the conman's meeting with Bollywood personalities including actor Jacqueline Fernandez and was instrumental in disposing of the money extorted from the complainant and other sources, the court was told.

The agency has alleged that Chandrashekhar, 32, used illegal money to purchase gifts for Fernandez which he had extorted by cheating high-profile people including former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh's wife Aditi Singh to the tune of about Rs 200 crore. He was arrested by the ED.

According to the ED, Fernandez and Nora Fatehi received luxury cars and other expensive gifts from him.
