New Delhi: Filmmaker Karan Johar has confirmed that the famous celebrity chat show Koffee With Karan will not be returning to the TV screen.
The filmmaker took to social media to make this announcement. His post read, “Hello, Koffee with Karan has been a part of my life, and yours, for 6 seasons now I'd like to think we've made an impact and even found our place in pop culture history. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that Koffee with Karan will not be returning...”
Karan Johar’s statement came amidst the speculations about the seventh season of the show. There were rumours of KGF star Yash being one of the guests on the show this season. Viewers were also hoping to see Alia-Ranbir and Katrina-Vicky on the show.
While fans of the show were heartbroken by KJo’s announcement, many viewers were pleased that the show is not returning for the next season.
Koffee With Karan, hosted by Karan Johar, has been the most talked about and popular celebrity chat show on Indian television. Who’s who of the film industry have graced the show and spilled the beans on many secrets and spiced up the show with their fun answers in the infamous Rapid Fire round. The famous nepotism debate also started from this show when Kangana Ranaut called Karan ‘flag bearer of nepotism’.
Koffee with Karan premiered on Star World India on November 19, 2004 and the last episode of the show's sixth season was aired on March 17, 2019.
Meanwhile, Karan Johar is currently busy shooting for his directorial Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra, and Jaya Bachchan.
