New Delhi: Neena Gupta is unafraid to say what's on her mind and address all the relevant issues. The actress recently expressed some jealousy that newer actresses like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra are gaining the kind of international recognition that she and her contemporaries never received. Neena Gupta admitted to experiencing mixed emotions as she saw the next generation achieve global success. She longed to be a young actor working in Hollywood now.

In case you missed it, Deepika Padukone was a presenter at this year's 95th Academy Awards, which took place in Los Angeles in March. Indian pride was high at the recent MET Gala 2023 when both Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt shone at the event.

Neena said she is 'envious' and wishes she had this type of international recognition when she was younger. In an interview with News18, Neena said, "I wish we also had the same kind of exposure. I think about it every passing minute. I feel envious every second (smiles). I wonder what if I was a young actor in this day and age! I could have achieved so much more. Having said that, I know that you can’t have everything that you wish for. I definitely do feel thankful for all the work that’s coming my way even at this age. But yes, I feel very, very jealous when I look at them wearing gowns and walking [on the global stage]."

The actress went on to say that if she were ever invited to a major international event, she would wear a dress designed by her daughter, the actress and fashion designer Masaba Gupta.

In ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway’, Neena Gupta was last seen. She's in the middle of filming ‘Metro In Dino’ right now. Neena will also be seen in the sequel of ‘Lust Stories’.
