The National Geographic Channel has started a new show, 'India's Incredible Rescue OPs'. The series featuring jaw-dropping rescue operations carried out India will air its second episode on Friday, September 16. Produced by ABP Studios, the show is about real-life heroes who have saved many lives, and will show them talk about the impossible missions that they made possible by sheer grit and intelligence. The episodes will also have the survivors share their icredible stories. 


The second episode of the series will be on 'Prince Borewell Rescue'. Prince, a 6-year-old boy, who had fallen into a borewell in Haryana in 2006 and was rescued after an operation that had the entire country hooked to their television sets with prayers on their lips. 


In July 2006, the six-year-old hailing from Haryana's Kurukshetra district fell into a 60-foot borewell while playing. The borewell had a diameter of 16 inches. A Kharga Corps team from the Ambala Cantonment of Indian Army was roped in for the rescue operation. After several hours of rigorous attempts failed to take Prince out, the rescue team devised another way to save the boy. They found another empty borewell of the same depth nearby. Iron pipes with a diameter of 3 feet were used to connect the two wells, and Prince was finally rescued after 50 hours of struggle.


Prince got a new life right on the day of his 6th birthday. The rescue operation had received wide coverage from the national media at that time.


It was a momentous situation as Prince became the first child to have been rescued alive from a borewell. As per National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) data, about seven children before Prince had found themselves in a similar situation but did not survive as the rescue teams failed to bring them out alive.


The episode to be aired on National Geographic Channel will once again bring forth the story of the six-year-old who united the entire nation as people  across the country prayed for his safety.

'India's Indrecible Rescue OPs' focuses on different incidents of rescue operations, and real heroes who risked their own lives to save others.


The first episode was the story of the dramatic 1992 'Timber Trail' rescue mission in Parwahoo, Himachal Pradesh.
