Covid cases in Mumbai: Amid the surge in Covid-19 cases across Maharasthra, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on Monday filed an FIR against a Bollywood actor for not complying with the Covid-19 protocol on testing positive. However, the name of the actor has not been revealed by the civic agency but ABP News has learnt that the actress is Gauahar Khan.
The Mumbai municipal body on the microblogging site Twitter informed about the development and posted a copy of the first information report (FIR) on Twitter saying "No Compromise On City's Safety", although the name of the actor was not revealed. According to ABP News sources, the FIR has been lodged against the Gauahar Khan for non-compliance with quarantine rules in Mumbai. The actor had two different covid reports on March 11 and March 12. The Mumbai report on March 11 showed the actress positive but the Delhi's report of March 12 was negative. It is being investigated whether the the actor in question has travelled to Delhi despite the positive report coming in Mumbai or has there any tampering in the negative covid report.
Gauahar had allegedly gone to shoot a film despite being Covid positive. When BMC officials went to the actress house to check, the actor was not present in the house.
Speaking to ABP News, S Chaitanya, DCP Operations and PRO for Mumbai police said, "FIR registered at Oshiwara police station u/s 188, 269, 270 IPC, 51B of NDMA Act, 3 of Epidemic Diseases Act, on complaint of a BMC official, against a person who tested Covid positive but didn't remain in quarantine and instead went out for film shooting.
The civic authorities' action has come amid the resurge in the coronavirus cases and the state governmment imposing restrictions, partial and complete lockdown in several districts of Maharashtra.
In fact, after returning from the UAE a few months ago, BMC had taken action against Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan and Sohail's son Aryan for non-compliance with quarantine rules. All were then quarantined at the Taj Lands and Hotel in Bandra, Mumbai.
Even the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has given strict and final warnings while raising concerns about the lackadaisical approach of public towards the Covid-19 norms protocols.
"Do not force us to impose a strict lockdown. Consider this as the last warning. Follow all the rules. Everyone has to realise there is a difference between self-discipline and restrictions," Thackeray said on Saturday.
The CM pointed out that crowds had increased in most places since activities resumed in a phased manner from October, and safety rules were not being followed and this had resulted in a steep surge in cases.
Incidentally, Maharashtra on Monday recorded 16,620 new cases and 50 deaths, taking its tally to 23,14,413 and fatalities to 52,861. In the last two days, the daily case count of the state was above 15,000, which crossed the 16,000-mark on Sunday.
