New Delhi: Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer 'Uri: The Surgical Strike’, which hit the silver screens on January 11, has turned out to be a massive hit at the box office. The military drama has been making waves ever since the trailer was unveiled. Trade pundits were expecting the film to do quite well and ‘Uri’ exceeded all the expectations. The film, which crossed the Rs 50 crore mark within five days of release, has achieved another feat.


The Aditya Dhar directorial has become the first blockbuster hit of 2019. The film has entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club on Sunday. Bollywood trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh shared Uri’s box office collection on Twitter.

‘’And #Uri crosses ₹ 100 cr... Sure, ₹ 100cr is *not* the yardstick to gauge the success of a film, but it should be celebrated when mid-sized films like #SKTKS, #Raazi, #Stree, #BadhaaiHo and #UriTheSurgicalStrike hit century... Content is king and the audiences are king makers!,’’ Adarsh wrote on the micro-blogging site.

‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ is based on the 2016 Indian Army's surgical strikes in PoK following the terrorist attack in Jammu &Kashmir’s Uri town. The film marked the Hindi film debut of popular TV actor Mohit Raina

Vicky Kaushal, who played the role of Major Vihan Singh Shergill, received critical acclaim for his performance. The ‘Masaan’ star has established himself as one of the most talented actors in Bollywood.
