New Delhi: Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Street Dancer 3D’, which released on January 24, has started on a good note at the box office. The dance film, which received mixed reviews from the critics and fans, collected Rs 10.26 crore on its first day. The Remo D’Souza directorial has got a good opening and trade pundits are expecting the film to do quite well.

Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first day box office collection of ‘Street Dancer 3D’ on Twitter. He mentioned that the movie should have raked in more moolah as youth-centric films open well. He added that the film’s business in Mumbai circuit was affected due to Tanhaji, which has entered the Rs 200 crore club.

“#StreetDancer3D opens in double digits on Day 1... Should’ve collected higher, since youth-centric films, generally, open big... Biz affected in #Mumbai circuit due to #Tanhaji wave... Big growth on Day 2 and 3 essential for a strong total... Fri ₹ 10.26 cr. #India biz,” Adarsh tweeted.

‘Street Dancer 3D’ is about two rival dance groups from India and Pakistan, who compete against each other every time they meet.

The film is set against the backdrop of a global dance competition and also features Nora Fatehi, Prabhu Deva, Aparshakti Khurana, Punit Pathak, Raghav Juyal and Dharmesh Yelande in key roles.

The dance-based film released across 3700 screens in the country. It remains to be seen how much ‘Street Dancer’ will rake in its first weekend at the box office.
