Fans have flooded the comments section with their messages, expressing their excitement. Movie buffs have been eagerly waiting for the film ever since the project was announced.

Akshay Kumar also shared a post on his official Instagram handle to inform his fans about the new release date of 'Sooryavanshi'. He wrote, "So many families would be thanking Sh Uddhav Thackeray today! Grateful for allowing the reopening of cinema halls in Maharashtra from Oct 22. Ab kisi ke roke na rukegi - AA RAHI HAI POLICE."

Bollywood trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh also confirmed the development on Twitter. "IT'S OFFICIAL... 'SOORYAVANSHI' ARRIVES IN *CINEMAS* THIS DIWALI... The wait is over! It's time to watch movies on BIG SCREEN again," he wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Sooryavanshi’ was originally slated to arrive in the cinema halls in March 2020. However, the makers postponed their film due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Earlier this year, the producers announced that the highly-anticipated flick would release on April 30. Things didn’t go as planned as cinema halls were shut to combat the second wave of Coronavirus in India.

The film also stars Katrina Kaif, Gulshan Grover in key roles. Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn will be seen reprising their respective characters in 'Simmba' and 'Singham' in 'Sooryavanshi'.

Rohit Shetty's Meeting With Uddhav Thackeray

Earlier in the day, Jayantilal Gada and Rohit Shetty met Maharashtra CM Uddhav to discuss the reopening of the theatres across the state. During the discussion, the Shiv Sena leader assured that theatres in the state will resume function from October 22.

The official Twitter handle of CMO Maharashtra shared a tweet on September 25 that read, "Theatres and auditoriums in Maharashtra will open after 22nd October 2021 while observing all COVID safety protocols. SOP is in the works and will be declared soon."

Films Which Have Been Delayed Due To COVID-19 Crisis

While several filmmakers have skipped a theatrical release for their films, few producers waited to release their movies in the cinema halls. Ranveer Singh starrer '83', which is based on India's 1983 Cricket World Cup victory, has been delayed twice. Several other flicks including 'Bunty Aur Babli 2', 'Satyameva Jayate 2' might release soon after the Maharashtra government allowed the theatres to function.
