Rohit Shetty's cop-universe film 'Singham Again' seems to be not so solid atleast as far as the censors are concered. The big Diwali release has been asked to make some changes by the Central Board of Film Certification by editing some seven minutes of film footage. Simmba's flirting scene, Kareena Kapoor's dialogues, references to Lord Ram, Sita, Hanuman and refrences to Raavan have been asked to be censored.
As per a Bollywood Hungama report, the CBFC made many cuts related to Lord Ram, Sita, and Lord Hanuman from Ramayan. Even a dialogue where Arjun Kapoor's character Zubair compares himself to Raavan has also been asked to be edited.
Censor cuts
“At two places, the Examining Committee asked the makers to suitably modify the 23-second-long ‘match cut’ visuals depictions of Lord Rama, Sita Mata and Lord Hanuman with that of Singham, Avni and Simmba respectively. Similarly, a 23-second-long visual of ‘Singham with Shri Ram, touching feet’ was ‘suitably modified,’” the Bollywood Hungama report shared.
The censor board also asked to make changed in the disclaimer stating that “This film is purely a work of fiction...Although the film is inspired by the story of Lord Ram, neither its narrative nor the characters should be viewed as revered deities…The story features contemporary characters of today...or societies, and their cultures, customs, practices, and traditions.”
The Censor Borad also asked Rohit Shetty to remove a 16-second visual of 'Raavan' 'grabbing, pulling and pushing Sita'. They also asked for a 29-second scene of 'Hanuman burning and dialogue of Simmba flirting’ to be deleted.
A 23-second sequence mixing visuals of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita and Lord Hanuman with those of Singham( Ajay Devgn), Avni( Kareena Kapoor), and Simmba( Ranveer) has also been asked to edit.
After the changes are made, the runtime of the Ajay Devgn film will be 144.12 minutes. In other words, it is 2 hours 24 minutes and 12 second long. 'Singham Again' will be released on Friday, November 1, 2024.
