New Delhi: Samantha Ruth Prabhu is currently awaiting the release of her upcoming film 'Shaakuntalam'. The film is just two days away from release and Samantha Ruth Prabhu is not in the best of health. Recently, the actor cancelled promotions due to poor health. Samantha is playing the titular role in the film which is mounted on a budget of Rs. 80 crores. Samantha updated her fans about her health status on social media stating that the hectic schedule has taken a toll on her health and that she is down with a fever.
On Wednesday, Samantha took to her official Twitter handle and shared, "I was really excited to be amongst you all this week promoting my film and soaking in your love. Unfortunately the hectic schedules and promotions have taken its toll, and I am down with a fever and have lost my voice. Please join team #Shaakuntalam at the Annual Day Event of MLRIT this evening… will miss you.”'
Samantha also urged her fans to attend a promotional event at MLRIT college's annual day which she cannot attend due to her health. Samnatha has been traveling extensively across Mumbai, Kerala, Chennai, Hyderabad and other cities for the promotion of 'Shaakuntalam'.
Samantha was earlier diagnosed with an auto-immune disease called myositis. Shehas also spoken about her health several times during these last few months. With the rising Covid cases in India, Samnatha's health update is sad news for her fans.
Meanwhile, Samantha is headlining ‘Shaakuntalam’ which is a period-drama adapted from the classic play Abhignyana Shakuntalam by Kalidasa. The film also stars Dev Mohan as Dushyanta, the king of Puru dynasty along with Mohan Babu, Jisshu Sengupta, Madhoo Gautami, Aditi Balan and Ananya Nagalla in supporting roles.
'Shaakuntalam' has been adapted for the screen by Gunasekhar and is also being directed by him. The film has been produced by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks and distributed by Sri Venkateswara Creations.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 14 April 2023.
