New Delhi: Rohit Shetty’s latest blockbuster ‘Sooryavanshi’ featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead role, teased the third instalment of his popular cop-drama ‘Singham’. Featuring Ajay Devgn in the lead role, ‘Singham’ is one of the most awaited movies of Rohit Shetty as fans have been eagerly waiting for the third instalment of this cop-drama.
Now, according to a report of PTI, Rohit Shetty has revealed that he will start filming for Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham 3’ next year. The ‘Simmba’ director said that the film will not start rolling until late 2022.
Meanwhile, the climax of ‘Sooryavanshi’ led to several speculations that ‘Singham 3’ would be set against the backdrop of the ‘revocation of Article 370’. Speaking about the same, Shetty told PTI, “I read that it's set in Kashmir and Article 370 is there... I was like, even I don't know! People are saying... But that happens with any big scale film. People write their stories, so it's fine.” He further revealed that he is yet to ‘pen the final draft’.
Rohit Shetty further told PTI revealing about Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film, “We have a basic idea of what the story will be, because it continues from where 'Sooryavanshi' left. The reality is, we are making 'Cirkus', we leave for the film's last schedule in Ooty on December 2. We will finish that film first.”
“Ajay sir already has a backlog because of the pandemic. So we are not starting shooting the film till next year's end. I can understand because of 'Sooryavanshi' euphoria, people want 'Singham', but technically, we won't be releasing the film till 2023.” “If by November, December 2022 we start shooting... It's a big action film so it'll take me seven months to finish. There's a lot of time to write the final draft, think about if we want to bring in more characters, analyse 'Sooryavanshi' to figure what should not be repeated. That journey will take time”, Rohit Shetty was quoted saying by PTI.
Meanwhile, Rohit’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ released on November 5, 2021, after a long wait of 19 months. The film was earlier set to hit the big screens on March 24, 2020, but got delayed due the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie is reportedly being credited for reviving the theatre business and has crossed the 100-crore mark.
